I receive an Access Violation error when using Registry Medic. What's the problem?
Registry Medic can repair a maximum of 1500 errors at once. If you try to repair more than this, you end up with an Access Violation error. Stop scanning before you reach 1500 and repair these, then scan and repair the rest. This should correct the problem. [ top ]

My virus protection software reports that Registry Medic has a Virus.
The report from your virus scanning software is definitely a false alarm. Our files are free of any virus, worm or trojan. You may contact the developer of your anti-virus software and report the false alarm. Please send the questionable file through your AntiVirus software's 'Report' function, or check the manufacturers website to find out how to report false alarms, and how to submit files that are detected to be infected by a virus. Please include a note to your report that the file you are submitting is NOT infected, and that the Anti Virus scanning engine of the Anti Virus product you are using produces a false alarm on the submitted file. Some anti-virus programs do come up with false alarms since our executable files are encrypted and compressed; those files may show the same checksums as virus infected files, although they do not contain any virus, worm, or trojan. However - good Anti-Virus product manufacturers update their scanning engines and virus definition databases often and quickly, in case a false alarm has been identified. As the problem is completely out of our control, we cannot offer any additional help. [ top ]

How Does the trial version of Registry Medic work? What are the limitations?
The trial version of Registry Medic should allow you to fix up to five invalid entries at a time. Run the scan, and when complete, select the five entries you would like to fix, and then execute the fix. It will fix them, and then popup telling you that it can only fix five entries at a time. You should be able to run another scan, and see that the number of invalid entries is five less than before. [ top ]
